Which band opened the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985?

The story behind the answer

Status Quo opened the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985.

The British rock band began the London concert on July 13, 1985, performing “Rockin’ All Over the World” and “Caroline.” Their appearance launched the Wembley portion of a huge benefit event staged simultaneously in London and Philadelphia.

Live Aid was organized to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. The Wembley concert continued with major acts including The Style Council, The Boomtown Rats, Adam Ant, Ultravox, Spandau Ballet, and Elvis Costello before Queen delivered its celebrated set.

People sometimes remember Queen as the opening act because its performance became the concert’s most famous segment. Queen actually appeared later in the Wembley running order, after several artists had already performed.
