Which award did Pixar’s Cars win as the first film to receive it?

Pixar’s Cars won the first Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

The award was introduced at the 64th Golden Globe Awards, honoring animated films as a separate category for the first time. Cars won the inaugural prize, making it a notable part of both Pixar and Golden Globe history.

The film competed during a period when computer-animated features had become a major part of theatrical cinema. Its win recognized the combination of computer animation, racing spectacle, comedy, and the story of a young competitor learning humility.

Cars did not win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, although it was nominated in that category. The distinction matters because the Golden Globe category was newly created, while the Academy’s animated-feature award had already existed for several years.
