Candace Parker won the WNBA Finals MVP award after leading the Los Angeles Sparks to the 2016 title.
The Sparks defeated the Minnesota Lynx in the 2016 WNBA Finals, giving Los Angeles its first championship since 2002. Parker was central to the series and received the Finals MVP honor for her all-around performance.
The championship was the first of Parker’s three WNBA titles. She later won championships in 2021 and 2023, adding to a résumé that included regular-season MVP awards, Olympic gold medals, and a Defensive Player of the Year award.
This award is separate from Parker’s 2008 regular-season MVP and Rookie of the Year honors. Her 2016 recognition came specifically from her performance in the championship series, not from the regular season.
