Bluey won the Preschool category at the International Emmy Kids Awards.
More precisely, the award was called “Kids: Preschool,” one of the children’s categories presented by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Bluey won for the 2019 awards cycle, representing Australian studio Ludo Studio.
The category recognised television made for preschool-aged children, which fits Bluey’s short stories, young protagonists and emphasis on imaginative family play. The series was competing against other international preschool productions, rather than against general animation or writing categories.
A common mix-up is “Best Animation,” because Bluey is animated and later received recognition in animation-specific awards. “Best Writing” is also associated with Bluey at other ceremonies, including the Kidscreen Awards, but neither is the category asked about here.
