Which Avengers film inspired Fortnite's first Infinity Gauntlet crossover event?

Fortnite’s first Infinity Gauntlet crossover event was inspired by Avengers: Infinity War. Released in 2018, the film centered on Thanos pursuing the six Infinity Stones and using the completed Gauntlet’s power.

Epic Games launched the Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup in May 2018, shortly after the film reached theaters. The event placed an Infinity Gauntlet on the Fortnite island; the player who equipped it transformed into Thanos and fought every other participant. This made the crossover a direct gameplay interpretation of the film’s central conflict.

The timing helps distinguish it from Avengers: Endgame. Fortnite received a second Marvel event tied to Endgame in 2019, but that later mode used teams of heroes against Thanos and his Chitauri army. It was not the inspiration for the first Gauntlet event.

Another possible source of confusion is Avengers: Age of Ultron, which featured a brief Thanos teaser involving the Gauntlet. However, the Fortnite crossover was explicitly associated with Infinity War and its theatrical release.
