Which automotive group owns Audi?

Audi is owned by the Volkswagen Group.

Audi AG operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, the parent company of the Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen’s connection with Audi began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz. Volkswagen used the Audi brand to expand its range of technically advanced, front-wheel-drive cars, helping create the modern Audi business.

Audi’s corporate history is more complicated than a simple takeover. Audi, Horch, DKW and Wanderer merged in 1932 to form Auto Union, represented by the four-ring emblem. Auto Union was later re-established in West Germany and ultimately merged with NSU in 1969. Volkswagen became the decisive modern owner, and Audi now sits alongside brands such as Porsche, Škoda, SEAT/Cupra, Bentley and Lamborghini within the wider group. BMW Group and Stellantis are separate automotive groups.
