Which driver took the Audi RS Q e-tron's first Dakar Rally win in 2024?
Answer
Carlos Sainz
Answer
Carlos Sainz
Carlos Sainz took the Audi RS Q e-tron’s first Dakar Rally win in 2024.
Sainz won the 2024 Dakar Rally driving an Audi RS Q e-tron with co-driver Lucas Cruz. It was Audi’s first overall Dakar victory and the first win for the RS Q e-tron programme after the manufacturer entered the event with an electrically driven prototype supported by a petrol engine-generator system.
The victory came after 12 stages across Saudi Arabia. Sainz finished ahead of Guillaume de Mévius, while Sébastien Loeb took third. His winning time was 48 hours, 15 minutes and 18 seconds, giving Audi a landmark result in one of rally-raid’s toughest events.
The other options are notable Audi Dakar drivers, which makes this question easy to mix up. Stéphane Peterhansel and Mattias Ekström also drove RS Q e-tron cars, while Nasser Al-Attiyah competed for another manufacturer in 2024.
