Broadside is a Generation 1 Autobot introduced in 1986. Like other triple-changers, he has three forms: robot, aircraft carrier and jet fighter. His unusual combination gives the Autobots both a large naval platform and an airborne attack mode, although the scale difference between those forms is famously impractical.
Broadside’s character profile adds an ironic detail: despite transforming into an aircraft carrier and jet, he is described as suffering from acrophobia, a fear of heights, and kinetosis, or motion sickness. His listed role is air and sea assault, matching his two vehicle modes. He carries weapons including a plasma pulse gun and a vibro-axe.
Springer is another Autobot triple-changer, but his alternate modes are a car and a helicopter. Sandstorm changes into a dune buggy and helicopter, while Blitzwing is a Decepticon tank-and-jet triple-changer. Those similar transformation abilities make them common wrong answers, but only Broadside has the aircraft-carrier mode.
