Jazz is the Autobot associated with a Porsche 935. In the original Generation 1 toy and animated continuity, his alternate mode is based on the Martini-liveried Porsche 935 turbo racing car, giving the character one of the most recognizable racing-car designs in Transformers.
Jazz’s vehicle identity matches his personality and role. He is stylish, enthusiastic about Earth music and culture, and serves as Optimus Prime’s first lieutenant and head of special operations. The original toy’s racing stripes, wide body, and prominent rear spoiler made the Porsche form visually distinctive even before the character spoke in the cartoon.
The silver description can cause confusion because Jazz’s exact appearance changes between continuities. In the 2007 live-action film, he transforms into a silver customized Pontiac Solstice rather than a Porsche 935. The Generation 1 Porsche itself is generally depicted as white with Martini racing colors, while later toys and interpretations may use silver or other finishes. Sideswipe is instead associated with a Lamborghini Countach, while Bluestreak and Prowl use Datsun-based forms.
