Which Audi model succeeded the Audi V8 in 1994?
Answer
Audi A8
Answer
Audi A8
The Audi A8 succeeded the Audi V8 in 1994.
Audi introduced the A8 as its new full-size luxury flagship after producing the V8 from 1988 to 1993. The first-generation A8, known internally as the D2 or Typ 4D, was presented in 1994 and continued the brand’s competition with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series.
The change was more than a renamed model. The A8 used Audi’s new aluminium Audi Space Frame, reducing weight while preserving rigidity. It was offered with front-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive, and later gained performance variants such as the S8.
A common mix-up is confusing the A8’s predecessor with the Audi 100 or Audi 200. Those models were related through Audi’s broader platform history, but the V8 was the direct predecessor to the A8.
