Which Assassin’s Creed protagonist is the central character of the series’ first trilogy?

The story behind the answer

Ezio Auditore is the central protagonist of Assassin’s Creed’s first trilogy.

The trilogy consists of Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Ezio begins as a young Florentine nobleman in Assassin’s Creed II and gradually becomes a highly experienced Assassin while opposing Templar forces in Renaissance Italy and beyond.

His story spans several decades and includes Florence, Venice, Rome, and Constantinople. The character’s development from an untrained young man into a mentor gives the trilogy a continuous personal arc rather than three unrelated adventures.

Altaïr is the protagonist of the original game, while Connor and Edward Kenway lead later entries. Ezio is also featured in the animated short film Assassin’s Creed: Embers, which depicts his later life.
