Which Assassin’s Creed protagonist is a Florentine nobleman who becomes an Assassin?

The story behind the answer

Ezio Auditore is the Florentine nobleman who becomes an Assassin in Assassin’s Creed II.

Ezio begins the game as a young member of a prominent Florentine family. After his father and brothers are executed as part of a conspiracy, Ezio is drawn into the Assassin conflict and trained by his uncle Mario at Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni.

His story spans several decades and continues in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. This makes Ezio the only protagonist to headline three major main-series games. His adventures take him through Renaissance locations including Florence, Venice, Rome, and Constantinople.

Ezio is often mixed up with Altaïr, the protagonist of the first game, and Edward Kenway, the pirate protagonist of Black Flag. The Auditore family name identifies Ezio’s origin in Florence and distinguishes him from the series’ other historical heroes.
