Which Assassin's Creed game is the first to feature Ezio Auditore as its protagonist?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed II is the first game to feature Ezio Auditore as its protagonist.

Released in 2009, Assassin's Creed II follows Ezio from his youth in Florence through his transformation into an Assassin. The story takes place primarily in Renaissance Italy and includes historical figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolò Machiavelli, and Rodrigo Borgia.

The game expanded the original formula with a larger variety of activities, economic upgrades, swimming, improved social stealth, and a broader selection of weapons. Ezio's personal quest begins with a family tragedy and develops into a campaign against the Templar Order.

Brotherhood and Revelations continue Ezio's story, but they are not his introduction. Brotherhood focuses heavily on Rome, while Revelations brings together Ezio's later life and Altaïr's legacy. Assassin's Creed II remains the starting point for Ezio's trilogy.
