Which Assassin’s Creed game is set mainly in Rome and features the Borgia conflict?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is set mainly in Rome and features the Borgia conflict.

Released in 2010, Brotherhood continues Ezio Auditore’s story after Assassin’s Creed II. Its central setting is Rome, where Ezio works to weaken the Borgia family’s political and military control while rebuilding the local Assassin Brotherhood.

The game expanded the series with recruitable Assassin allies. Players could find and train recruits, then call on them during missions. Brotherhood also introduced the modern-day character Desmond Miles to a substantial Rome-based storyline.

The Borgia family had already appeared in Assassin’s Creed II, but Brotherhood makes Rodrigo Borgia’s son Cesare the principal human antagonist. The game is distinct from Revelations, which follows Ezio later in life and is primarily associated with Constantinople.
