Which Assassin's Creed game is set during the French Revolution?
Answer
Assassin's Creed Unity
Answer
Assassin's Creed Unity
Assassin's Creed Unity is set during the French Revolution.
The game begins in 1789, the year conventionally used to mark the start of the French Revolution, and follows Arno Dorian through Paris during the upheaval. Historical figures such as Maximilien Robespierre and Napoleon Bonaparte appear in the story, while the Assassin–Templar conflict continues behind the political events.
Unity portrays major locations across Paris, including the Bastille, the Tuileries and Notre-Dame. Its missions use the revolution as both a historical backdrop and a source of changing power relationships. Arno's personal investigation is tied to Templar politics, so the game is not simply a retelling of the revolution.
Assassin's Creed III is set during the American Revolution, while Assassin's Creed II focuses on Renaissance Italy. Assassin's Creed Liberation also overlaps chronologically with the eighteenth century, but its primary setting is French Louisiana and the protagonist is Aveline de Grandpré.
