Stevie Wonder won the Grammy for Album of the Year at the 1974 ceremony with Innervisions.
Innervisions was Wonder’s sixteenth studio album and was released in 1973. It won Album of the Year at the 16th Grammy Awards, where Wonder also received recognition in several other categories.
The album included “Higher Ground,” “Living for the City,” and “He’s Misstra Know-It-All.” Its synthesizer-based production, social commentary, and layered songwriting made it one of the most influential albums of Wonder’s career.
This victory is sometimes mixed up with Wonder’s other Album of the Year wins. He also won for Songs in the Key of Life and two earlier albums, but Innervisions was the 1974 winner. The 1974 ceremony honored recordings released during the preceding eligibility period.
