Jay-Z was Beyoncé’s duet partner on the 2003 hit “Crazy in Love.”
The song appeared on Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, and was written by Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rich Harrison, and Eugene Record. Harrison created the song’s instantly recognizable horn-driven production by sampling the Chi-Lites’ 1970 song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So).”
“Crazy in Love” became Beyoncé’s first solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Its energetic video and choreography helped establish her visual identity as a solo performer, while Jay-Z’s rap verse connected the track to hip-hop audiences.
The collaboration also became part of the artists’ personal history. Beyoncé and Jay-Z married in 2008 and continued to collaborate on recordings, tours, and visual projects. Their later joint album, Everything Is Love, was released in 2018 under the name The Carters.
