Jay-Z joined Beyoncé on the 2003 hit “Crazy in Love.”
The song was released as the lead single from Beyoncé's debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. Beyoncé and Jay-Z shared the main recording, with Jay-Z contributing a rap verse. The track was written by Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rich Harrison, and Eugene Record, and Harrison built its production around a prominent horn sample from the Chi-Lites' 1970 song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So).”
“Crazy in Love” became Beyoncé's first solo number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100. Its urgent horn arrangement, vocal refrain, and dance-focused video helped establish the sound and image of her early solo career.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z later married in 2008 and collaborated on additional recordings, including “Drunk in Love” and the joint album Everything Is Love. The featured artist on “Crazy in Love” is Jay-Z, whose birth name is Shawn Carter.
