Which artist/band put out the CD, "Lateralus"?

The story behind the answer

The artist/band that released the CD Lateralus was Tool. Lateralus is Tool’s third studio album, released in the United States on May 15, 2001, through Volcano Entertainment.

The album followed Ænima and marked another step in Tool’s move toward progressive metal, alternative metal, and art rock. Its long, intricate songs, shifting rhythms, and layered visual presentation made it especially distinctive among early-2000s rock releases. David Bottrill co-produced the record with the band, while artist Alex Grey created the celebrated anatomical artwork used in its packaging.

Lateralus was a major commercial success despite its unusual structure and extended running time of nearly 79 minutes. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and eventually received a triple-platinum certification from the RIAA. The album includes “Schism,” which won Tool the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2002, as well as “Parabola” and the title track.

A common mix-up is confusing the album with “Lateralus,” the single. The song is the title track, but the quiz asks for the artist responsible for the entire album: Tool, featuring Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor, and Danny Carey.
