Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree associated with the Quran’s revelation, occurs in Ramadan.
Laylat al-Qadr is described in the Quran as better than a thousand months. Muslims seek it during the final ten nights of Ramadan, especially on odd-numbered nights, although its exact night is not definitively identified in the Quran. Many worshippers spend extra time praying, reciting the Quran, and making supplications.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Laylat al-Qadr is connected with the beginning of the Quran’s revelation to Muhammad, while Ramadan as a whole is the month of obligatory fasting. The night should not be confused with Eid al-Fitr, which follows the end of Ramadan.
