Which Apollo mission made the second crewed Moon landing?

The story behind the answer

Which Apollo mission made the second crewed Moon landing? Apollo 12 made the second crewed Moon landing.

Apollo 12 launched on November 14, 1969, just four months after Apollo 11’s historic first landing. Commander Charles “Pete” Conrad and Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean landed the lunar module Intrepid in the Ocean of Storms on November 19, while Command Module Pilot Richard Gordon remained in lunar orbit aboard Yankee Clipper.

The mission demonstrated that lunar landings could be made with much greater precision. Conrad and Bean landed within walking distance of Surveyor 3, a robotic spacecraft that had reached the Moon in 1967, and collected parts from it for examination on Earth.

Apollo 12 also carried the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package and completed two moonwalks totaling more than seven hours. A lightning strike shortly after launch caused temporary instrumentation problems, but the crew and Mission Control recovered successfully. Apollo 13 followed in 1970 but never landed because an onboard oxygen-tank explosion forced the crew to abort the landing attempt.
