Blue Sky Studios was an American computer animation studio founded in 1987 and based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Ice Age, released in 2002, became the studio’s first feature film and its breakthrough theatrical success.

The studio was known for computer-generated animation and for developing its own rendering technology. After Ice Age, it produced further films in that franchise as well as titles such as Robots, Horton Hears a Who!, and Rio.

Blue Sky Studios was owned by 20th Century Fox for many years. Following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox assets, the studio was closed in 2021. Its work on Ice Age nevertheless remains a major part of early-2000s computer-animation history.

Blue Sky Studios should not be confused with DreamWorks Animation or Pixar, which are separate animation companies with different film catalogs.
