Which animated character did Beyoncé voice in The Lion King (2019)?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé voiced Nala in The Lion King (2019).

The film is Jon Favreau’s computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated film. Beyoncé provided the voice for the adult version of Nala, a lioness who is Simba’s childhood friend and later becomes his partner and queen.

The voice cast also included Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi. Beyoncé’s performance connected the film to its companion album, The Lion King: The Gift, which she curated and released in 2019.

Nala is sometimes confused with Sarabi, who is Simba’s mother, or Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter from The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride. Those are separate characters in the franchise.
