Which ancient wonder stood in the city of Alexandria?

The story behind the answer

The Lighthouse of Alexandria stood in the city of Alexandria. Also called the Pharos of Alexandria, it was built on the island of Pharos during the reigns of Ptolemy I Soter and Ptolemy II Philadelphus in the third century BCE.

The structure guided ships into the busy harbour of Alexandria, one of the major commercial and intellectual centres of the Hellenistic world. Ancient descriptions indicate that it had several levels, probably a square lower section, an octagonal middle section, and a cylindrical upper section. A fire or reflective surface at the summit helped make it visible from the sea.

Earthquakes damaged the lighthouse repeatedly between the tenth and fourteenth centuries, and it eventually collapsed. Some of its stones were reused in the Qaitbay Citadel, which now stands near the ancient site. The lighthouse was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Colossus of Rhodes was another wonder, but it stood on the island of Rhodes, not in Alexandria.
