Ancient Egypt provides the setting for Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game takes place during the first century BCE, mainly in Ptolemaic Egypt, and follows Bayek of Siwa as he investigates the forces that threaten his homeland.
Origins depicts locations such as Alexandria, Memphis, Siwa, and the Nile Delta. Its story occurs during the reign of Cleopatra VII and the Roman intervention led by Julius Caesar. The game also presents the formation of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later develops into the Assassin Brotherhood.
The title Origins refers to the beginnings of that organization, not to the beginning of Egyptian civilization. The game is also distinct from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which is set in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War.
