The alternative television series Mad Men features the fictional advertising agency Sterling Cooper. Matthew Weiner created the American drama, which premiered on AMC in 2007.
The series begins in the early 1960s and follows advertising executive Don Draper and his colleagues in New York City. Sterling Cooper later becomes Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce and then evolves through further mergers. The show examines advertising, gender, race, class, marriage, and changing social values during the 1960s.
Jon Hamm stars as Don Draper, with Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, and Vincent Kartheiser in important roles. Mad Men ran for seven seasons and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series four consecutive times, from 2008 through 2011.
