Phoenix released the 2009 alternative rock album 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix'.
It was the French band's fourth studio album and includes the singles '1901' and 'Lisztomania'. The record combines polished indie rock, synth-pop, and melodic guitar writing, helping Phoenix reach a much wider international audience.
The title plays on the name of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the band name Phoenix. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2010. It is sometimes mistaken for a classical-music release because of its title, but its music is firmly rooted in contemporary alternative pop and rock.
