Yeah Yeah Yeahs released the 2003 album Fever to Tell.

The album was the New York trio’s debut studio release. The group consisted of vocalist Karen O, guitarist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. Its sound combined raw garage-rock energy with art-punk, danceable rhythms, and abrupt changes in intensity.

Fever to Tell included “Maps,” a widely praised alternative-rock ballad, as well as “Date with the Night” and “Y Control.” Producer David Andrew Sitek helped shape the record’s abrasive but spacious production. The album received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs emerged from New York’s early-2000s independent club scene, but the band was not simply a revival act. Karen O’s theatrical performances and Zinner’s effects-heavy guitar playing gave the group a distinctive identity. Their later albums moved further toward synth-pop and electronic textures.
