The album was the band’s third studio release and followed Purple, their successful 1994 album. On Tiny Music..., Stone Temple Pilots broadened their sound with psychedelic rock, glam-rock touches and more melodic arrangements, while retaining the group’s alternative-rock foundation.

The record produced the singles “Big Bang Baby,” “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart” and “Lady Picture Show.” It is sometimes confused with Core, the band’s 1992 debut, which has a heavier sound and includes “Plush.”

Tiny Music... reached number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum in the United States. Its stylistic shift demonstrated the band’s ability to change direction during the height of 1990s alternative rock.
