Mazzy Star released the 1993 album So Tonight That I Might See.
So Tonight That I Might See was Mazzy Star’s second studio album and the record that brought the group its widest audience. The band’s sound combined psychedelic rock, folk, blues, and dream-pop textures, with Hope Sandoval’s restrained vocals at the centre.
The album’s best-known song is “Fade into You,” a slow, atmospheric ballad written by Sandoval and guitarist David Roback. Its popularity helped make Mazzy Star strongly associated with the dream-pop label, although the group’s music also drew on older blues and folk traditions.
The album title comes from a line in the song “So Tonight That I Might See.” It is sometimes confused with Among My Swan, Mazzy Star’s 1996 follow-up, but “Fade into You” belongs to the earlier 1993 release.
