Ride released the 1990 alternative rock album Nowhere, which features “Leave Them All Behind.”
Ride formed in Oxford, England, and became one of the most prominent British shoegaze bands. Nowhere was their debut studio album and expanded the dense guitar sound heard on the band’s early EPs.
“Leave Them All Behind” is the album’s closing track and is known for its extended, swirling arrangement. Other key songs include “Vapour Trail,” which became one of Ride’s signature tracks, and “Seagull.”
Nowhere is often grouped with albums by My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Lush because all four bands are central to discussions of shoegaze. Ride’s music, however, often gave its layered guitars a more direct rock drive and clearer melodic shape.
