U2 released the 1987 alternative rock album The Joshua Tree. It was the Irish band’s fifth studio album and became their international breakthrough, combining rock, blues, gospel, and American roots influences.
The album includes “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” and “With or Without You.” Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno produced it, continuing their important collaboration with U2.
The Joshua Tree reached number one in several countries and won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. It is sometimes confused with U2’s earlier album The Unforgettable Fire, which was also produced by Lanois and Eno but appeared in 1984.
