Which alternative rock band had a song called "Zombie"?

The story behind the answer

The Cranberries had the alternative-rock song “Zombie,” released in 1994 as the lead single from their album No Need to Argue. Written by singer Dolores O’Riordan, it marked a striking change from the band’s earlier jangly, melodic style, using distorted guitars, heavy drums, and an intense vocal performance.

“Zombie” was inspired by the 1993 Warrington bombings in England, in which two children, Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry, were killed during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. O’Riordan wrote the song as a protest against the cycle of violence and the human cost of political conflict. Its lyrics are therefore about real historical events, not supernatural monsters.

The Cranberries were an Irish band from Limerick, while “Zombie” was recorded in England and produced by Stephen Street. The song topped alternative charts in the United States and reached number one in several countries. Its music video, filmed partly in Belfast, reinforced the song’s anti-war message with imagery from the conflict.
