Which alternative rock album was released by Nirvana in 1994 after Kurt Cobain’s death?
Answer
MTV Unplugged in New York
Answer
MTV Unplugged in New York
Nirvana released MTV Unplugged in New York in 1994 after Kurt Cobain’s death.
The live album documents Nirvana’s appearance on MTV Unplugged, recorded in New York City on 18 November 1993. Rather than presenting a standard greatest-hits set, the band performed quieter arrangements and included songs by David Bowie, the Vaselines, and Lead Belly.
The performance became especially notable for its intimate atmosphere and unusual setlist. The album was released on 1 November 1994 and won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance in 1996.
It is distinct from In Utero, Nirvana’s final studio album, and from From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, a later live compilation. MTV Unplugged in New York reached number one on the Billboard 200 and became one of the best-known live releases in alternative rock.
