The alternative music artist Massive Attack released the 1998 album Mezzanine.

Mezzanine was Massive Attack’s third studio album and marked a darker, more guitar-oriented turn from the group’s earlier work. Its production combines sampled rhythms, electronic textures, live instrumentation, and guest vocals. The album includes “Teardrop,” “Angel,” and “Inertia Creeps.”

“Teardrop” features vocals by Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins and became especially recognizable through its use as the theme song for the television series House. “Angel,” sung by Horace Andy, is built around a sample of Isaac Hayes’s “Ike’s Rap II.”
