Which alternative band's debut album is called "Is This It"?
Answer
The Strokes
Answer
The Strokes
The Strokes released their debut album, Is This It. The album first appeared in Australia on July 30, 2001, before reaching Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States in stages during that year.
Produced by Gordon Raphael and recorded in New York during March and April 2001, Is This It was built around a deliberately simple, live-feeling sound. Julian Casablancas’s vocals and songwriting were framed by the twin-guitar work of Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., helping revive interest in garage rock and post-punk-influenced guitar music.
The album’s release history creates a frequent source of confusion. The American CD edition was delayed until October 9 after the September 11 attacks, and “New York City Cops” was replaced by “When It Started” on that version. The original cover was also changed for the North American market. Despite those differences, all versions belong to the same Strokes debut.
