Klaxons won the 2007 Mercury Prize for their album Myths of the Near Future.
Myths of the Near Future was the English band Klaxons’ debut studio album, released on January 29, 2007. It blended indie rock, electronic music, and dance-punk elements associated with the short-lived “new rave” movement.
The album won the 2007 Mercury Prize, an annual award for the best album released in the United Kingdom by a British or Irish act. Its singles included “Golden Skans,” “Atlantis to Interzone,” and “It’s Not Over Yet.” The Klaxons’ victory is sometimes confused with the Arctic Monkeys’ 2006 Mercury win for Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.
