Which alternative band released the album "Siamese Dream"?

The story behind the answer

Siamese Dream is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins.

Released in 1993 by Virgin Records, it followed the group’s 1991 debut Gish and helped move them from the Chicago underground into mainstream alternative rock. Billy Corgan produced the album with Butch Vig, who had also produced Nirvana’s Nevermind, although the records have distinct sounds.

The album is known for layered guitar parts, expansive arrangements and the contrast between heavy distortion and delicate melodies. Key tracks include “Cherub Rock,” “Today,” “Disarm” and “Rocket.” Recording was difficult, with tensions inside the band and Corgan often performing or overdubbing multiple instrumental parts.

Siamese Dream debuted at number ten on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified four-times platinum in the United States. The presence of grunge-era names such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots can make the answer easy to confuse, but Siamese Dream belongs specifically to The Smashing Pumpkins’ catalog.
