New Order's album "Get Ready" marked the band's return after an eight-year gap between studio albums.
Released in 2001, "Get Ready" followed "Republic," which had come out in 1993. New Order had entered a period of inactivity and pursued side projects, including Electronic, Revenge, and The Other Two, before reuniting for performances in the late 1990s.
The album showed the group leaning more heavily into guitar-driven rock while retaining its electronic foundation. Its best-known tracks include "Crystal," "60 Miles an Hour," and "Someone Like You." Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins also appeared on "Turn My Way."
The phrase "eight-year break" refers to the interval between albums, not a continuous period in which every member stopped making music. New Order had reunited for live shows before the album was recorded, but "Get Ready" was their first new studio album since "Republic."
