Which airline was the launch operator of the Boeing 777 freighter in 2009?

The story behind the answer

Air France was the launch operator of the Boeing 777 freighter in 2009.

Air France introduced the 777F into commercial cargo service in October 2009. The aircraft joined the airline’s dedicated cargo operation and became part of its long-haul freight network.

The 777F is a freighter version of the 777-200LR family. It can carry large payloads over intercontinental distances and uses the same GE90 engine family associated with several long-range 777 variants. Its design includes a reinforced main deck and a large cargo door.

FedEx and DHL are major global air-freight companies, but neither was the launch operator of the 777F. Air France’s role is also separate from its earlier distinction as the first commercial operator of the passenger 777-300ER.
