Which airline was the first customer to operate the Airbus A380 in scheduled passenger service?

The story behind the answer

Singapore Airlines was the first customer to operate the Airbus A380 in scheduled passenger service.

The airline’s first A380 service departed Singapore for Sydney on October 25, 2007. This event marked the beginning of commercial operations for the world’s largest passenger airliner. The aircraft was designed for high-capacity routes between major international hubs.

Singapore Airlines used the aircraft to showcase premium cabins as well as its high-density capacity. The first commercial flight was also notable because seats were auctioned for charity, raising funds for Singaporean charities and UNICEF-related work.

Emirates later became the largest A380 operator, but it was not the launch operator. Qantas and Lufthansa were among the other early A380 customers. The A380’s two full passenger decks distinguish it from most other wide-body airliners, though airlines have gradually adjusted their fleets as passenger demand and operating economics changed.
