Which airline uses the three-letter ICAO designator QTR?

The story behind the answer

Qatar Airways uses the three-letter ICAO designator QTR.

ICAO designators identify airlines in operational aviation systems, flight plans, air-traffic communications and flight tracking. Qatar Airways also uses the two-letter IATA code QR, which is more familiar to passengers booking flights or reading airport displays.

The airline was founded in 1993 and relaunched in 1997. Its main hub is Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, from which it operates a global passenger and cargo network.

QTR should not be confused with Qantas, whose ICAO designator is QFA, or Qatar Executive, a separate business-aviation division associated with the Qatar Airways Group. The letters QTR reflect the airline’s name but are specifically an ICAO operational identifier, not its passenger-facing IATA code.
