Which African island country has Victoria as its capital?

The story behind the answer

Which African island country has Victoria as its capital? Seychelles.

Victoria is the capital and largest city of Seychelles, an archipelagic country in the western Indian Ocean. The city lies on the northeastern coast of Mahé, the largest and most populous island in the Seychelles.

The settlement began under French colonial rule in 1778 and was initially called L’Établissement. Britain took control of the islands, and in 1841 the town was renamed Victoria in honour of Queen Victoria. Its harbour, Port Victoria, remains an important centre for shipping, fishing and commerce.

Seychelles is made up of 115 islands, but national government, much of the population and major institutions are concentrated on Mahé. Victoria is sometimes confused with Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, or Moroni, the capital of Comoros. Its landmarks include the Victoria Clocktower, the National Museum and the colourful Sir Selwyn-Clarke Market.
