Which African country has Rabat as its capital and Casablanca as its largest city?

The story behind the answer

Morocco is the African country whose capital is Rabat and whose largest city is Casablanca.

Rabat lies on Morocco’s Atlantic coast at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River. It became the country’s capital in 1912 during the French protectorate and remained the capital after Morocco regained independence in 1956. The city is known for the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.

Casablanca is Morocco’s largest city and its main economic center. Its name means “white house” in Spanish, while its Arabic name is الدار البيضاء, commonly transliterated as ad-Dār al-Bayḍāʾ. A common mix-up is choosing Casablanca as the capital because it is more populous and internationally prominent. Morocco’s political institutions are centered in Rabat, not Casablanca.
