Which African country has Mount Cameroon as its highest point?

The story behind the answer

Cameroon is the African country whose highest point is Mount Cameroon.

Mount Cameroon is an active volcano near the Gulf of Guinea, rising to about 4,095 metres. It is part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line, a chain of volcanic features extending across western Cameroon and into the Atlantic islands.

The mountain is one of Africa’s highest peaks and one of the continent’s most active volcanoes. Its fertile lower slopes support farming, while upper elevations contain montane forest, grassland, and volcanic terrain.

Mount Cameroon is also called Fako by local communities. It should not be confused with Mount Cameroon National Park’s wider protected landscape or with Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, which lies inland and is not the mountain’s location.
