McDonald’s launched the advertising slogan “I’m Lovin’ It” in 2003.
The campaign was introduced internationally as a major global branding platform, replacing the need for separate central slogans in many markets. Its wording was deliberately informal and personal, presenting McDonald’s as part of everyday enjoyment rather than only as a fast-food service.
The campaign also became strongly associated with a short musical hook. Pusha T has said he helped write the original jingle while working with the production team behind the campaign, although the campaign was developed through a broader agency and music-production process.
“I’m Lovin’ It” is sometimes confused with earlier McDonald’s slogans such as “You Deserve a Break Today.” The difference is chronological: the earlier line belonged to a 1970s campaign, while “I’m Lovin’ It” began in 2003.
