Joe Alwyn received recognition as an additional producer of Taylor Swift’s “august” after Folklore won Album of the Year.
Swift and Jack Antonoff wrote the song, and the pair are credited as its principal writers and producers in the album’s liner-note information. Alwyn was later recognized by the Recording Academy as a co-producer connected with Folklore’s Album of the Year win at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
Alwyn’s production credit is easy to confuse with his songwriting identity. He contributed to several Folklore and Evermore recordings under the pseudonym William Bowery, but “august” is specifically associated with Swift and Antonoff as its writers.
Aaron Dessner was another major Folklore producer, but he did not produce “august.” He worked on other tracks and joined Swift for the Grammy performance.
