Joe Alwyn received additional producer credit on Taylor Swift’s “august,” alongside Swift and Jack Antonoff.
The original Folklore liner notes credited Swift and Antonoff as producers, while Alwyn’s contribution was later recognized by the Recording Academy after Folklore won Album of the Year at the 63rd Grammy Awards. This explains why different early descriptions can appear to list only two producers.
Alwyn worked with Swift under the pseudonym William Bowery on songwriting credits elsewhere on Folklore, including “Betty” and “Exile.” That pseudonym is not the producer credit for “august”; the track’s production credit identifies Alwyn by his real name.
Aaron Dessner was a principal Folklore collaborator and producer on other songs, while Evan Smith contributed instrumental parts to “august.” Neither replaces Alwyn in the specific additional-producer credit for this track.
