Which actress played Neytiri in James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar?

Zoe Saldana played Neytiri in James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar.

Neytiri is a Na’vi hunter and the daughter of the leaders of the Omaticaya clan. She encounters Jake Sully on Pandora and teaches him about Na’vi culture, the forest, and the spiritual connections linking the community to its environment. Their relationship becomes central to the film’s plot.

Saldana performed the role through performance-capture techniques, with the finished character appearing as a blue, computer-generated Na’vi. The production used detailed facial and body capture to translate the actors’ work into the digital characters.

The same role made Saldana one of the central performers in the Avatar franchise. Neytiri should not be confused with Dr. Grace Augustine, played by Sigourney Weaver, or Trudy Chacón, played by Michelle Rodriguez; both are human characters in the first film.
