Lauren Tom is confirmed to reprise both Connie and Minh Souphanousinphone in season 14.
Tom performs two generations of the Souphanousinphone family: Connie, Kahn and Minh’s daughter, and Minh, Kahn’s wife. The dual casting is part of the show’s established voice-acting tradition, in which performers often portray several residents of Arlen and its surrounding community.
Connie was introduced as Bobby Hill’s gifted friend and occasional romantic interest. Her relationship with Bobby is complicated by their families’ different expectations, but the two remain important parts of each other’s lives. Minh is an adult member of the same Laotian-American family and is known for her sharp, competitive personality.
The revival brings back the characters while aging the story’s world after an eight-year time jump. Pamela Adlon also returned as Bobby despite Bobby being an adult, another example of the production choosing continuity with the original cast. Ashley Gardner, Pamela Adlon, and Kathy Najimy are associated with other roles, but they are not the confirmed performer for both Connie and Minh.
